Angela sees each individual as the expert of their own life and utilizes individual strengths to customize your treatment plan. She believes that deep down, everyone knows what is best for them, but challenges or other barriers may prevent this from becoming reality. Life is often about finding a balance and realizing how our own needs, traits, and expectations may fluctuate over time. Angela approaches her work primarily through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and integrates other therapies as needed. Her primary areas of treatment include, but are not limited to, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Depression and Bipolar Disorders, Chronic Pain and Illness, Grief and Loss, and major life changes.
Angela has been practicing as a licensed psychologist since 2022. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Old Dominion University and went on to receive her Master’s and Doctor of Psychology from Regent University in 2021. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency at Virginia Tech. Angela has worked within a variety of settings and populations, including community mental health, inpatient psychiatric facilities, university counseling centers, and private practice.
In her free time, Angela enjoys running, playing guitar, hockey, reading, and doing anything in the great outdoors with her two standard poodles.
If this is your first time, or even if you are returning to therapy after time away, it is common to feel uncertain or confused about what to expect. At Framework Psychology, LLC, we strive to remove the guesswork out of connecting to services and set you up for success no matter where you decide to continue your journey.
Therapy often begins with an initial assessment, designed for you and your clinician to get to know each other better and set a good foundation to have future services be as helpful as possible. This initial assessment often takes about an hour and may not feel like what most people expect from therapy. Your clinician will ask a variety of questions to get to know you, your history, and what you are hoping to gain from your time in therapy. Of course, this is also a time for you to ask questions so you feel comfortable with your provider and feel confident that your needs match what your therapist can provide. Finding the right “fit” in a therapist may not always work with the first person you meet, and that’s okay!
At the end of your initial assessment, your clinician will discuss with you resources and what to expect from sessions moving forward. Depending on your goals, sessions can occur weekly, every other week, or as frequently as you would like.
